Scholarship Details

Offered annually, the Mattie Jones-Hill Memorial Scholarship Foundation provides two types of scholarships. The five undergraduate scholarships are designated for high school students in the New Orleans, Louisiana area pursuing a college education. The five scholarships awarded are worth $2,000 each. In addition, each undergraduate scholar will receive $100 per month for ten months during the second, third and fourth years.

The Betty Moore-Heusel Graduate Scholarship was created to honor Betty who was an enthusiastic supporter of the scholarship foundation since its inception. The graduate scholarship provides financial assistance to two Mattie Hill Scholars each year pursing graduate/professional studies. Each graduate scholar will receive $2,900 for one year. The award is renewable.

Eligibility Requirements

You may apply for the Mattie Jones-Hill Memorial Scholarship if you meet all of the following criteria:

You are a high school student in the New Orleans, LA area.
You expect to graduate and enter college as a full-time student the following year.
You can demonstrate financial need.
You can provide all needed documentation.
You are not a previous recipient of this scholarship.
You must be present at the Awards Ceremony.

When to Apply

Applications are accepted between January 20th and April 15th each year. All applicants will be notified about the status of their applications via letter in June of the year applied.
